Roads in Tauranga's central business district will be closed this evening as people in pink strut their stuff for the HOT Pink Walk.

Back for the first time since 2019, this year's HOT Pink Walk will be a celebration as well as a time to remember those who have had breast cancer.

Gathering at 5.30pm in Masonic Park, Tauranga, there will be entertainment followed by the Countdown to the Walk at 6pm.

The following road closures will be in place from 3.30pm - 9pm:

-The Strand – between Harington Street and Devonport Road

-Hamilton Street – between The Strand and Willow Street

The following rolling closures will be in place during the Parade only between 5.45pm - 7.30pm

-Devonport Road – between The Strand and Elizabeth Street

-Elizabeth Street (Westbound Lane) from Devonport Road and Cameron Road

-Brown Street – between Cameron Road and Willow Street

All funds raised from the event will go directly to the Breast Cancer Support Service Tauranga Trust, where people who've had breast cancer offer practical and emotional support to those going through breast cancer.

The organisers ask that people please stay home if they have an illness that can be passed on to others, and also encourage everyone to wear a pink mask.

The HOT Pink Walk starts 5.30pm on Wednesday, October 5, at Masonic Park on The Strand.
