Coming off of the narrow loss against the Lions on their home turf last weekend, SunLive sat down with Steamers Prop Pasilio Tosi to talk training, how the season is playing out, and their upcoming game in Tauranga this weekend.

Tosi says that the team is always learning to 'adapt to whatever is thrown at them,” after bracing the Wellington weather on Sunday, August 7, and experiencing a close loss at 35 to 37.

'This week we're on our home domain. We've got the advantage now, so we're just ready to get out,” says Tosi.

'We've been waiting for a home game. It's not ideal starting the season away from the home ground but this second round we're ready.

Tosi says the team's training schedule has been 'one and done” as of late, and the players are enjoying being able to get some added recovery time.

'They've been pretty kind to us lately, they thrash us only until 1pm instead of 4pm, so I think the boys are pretty grateful for that. We get to get our recovery in a bit earlier on, and head home to rest up.”

Tossi says that he is looking forward to the Steamers' upcoming game against the Southland Stags on September 18.

'For me personally I'm really looking forward to playing against the Stags again. I've lived and played down there with those boys, so it's always good to go south and butt heads with my mates again.”

Tossi adds that for the rest of the season the team is looking to not play so rigidly.

'I think we need to have fun, throw the ball around and get back to the footy that we used to play.”

When utilising his recovery time off of the pitch, Tossi says that he likes to ‘go out to eat at Katsubi, and play games.'

The Bay of Plenty Steamers are playing their next game against the Taranaki Bulls at the Tauranga and Wharepai Domains on Sunday, August 14 at 2.05pm.
