Police have released the name of a person who died following a crash between a truck and car earlier this week.

Seventeen-year-old Xinania Matika, of Fairfield, Hamilton, died following the crash on Waihekau Road, Waitoa, just after 4pm on Tuesday.

"Police would like to extend condolences to her whānau and friends at this difficult time," says a police spokesperson.

"An investigation into the crash is ongoing."

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact their nearest police station.
