6.20pm Update: NZTA advise that the eastbound lane of State Highway 2 near Taniwha Place in Bethlehem is now clear following a two-car crash earlier.

Earlier, motorists were advised to pass the scene with care, and to expect delays.

5.40pm: There has been a crash on State Highway 2 in Bethlehem.

Police were called to the scene of a collision between two cars on SH2 near Taniwha Place.

"It is unclear how many people were involved but there are no reported injuries," says a Police spokesperson.

"Police are working to locate one of the drivers who left the scene on foot."

NZTA advise that the crash is partially blocking an eastbound lane near Wairoa Place in Bethlehem.

"Pass the scene with care and be prepared for delays," says a NZTA spokesperson.
