Heavy traffic congestion is being reported on State Highway 29 and State Highway 25 today.

Waka Kotahi Transport Agency reports the issue is on SH25 is on stretch of highway between Hikuai and Tairua.

"Due to holiday traffic, motorists are advised to expect northbound delays between Hikuai and Tairua."

The issue on SH29 is reported to be affecting traffic travelling eastbound from the Lower Kaimai area to Tauriko.

"Allow extra time for your journey."
