Nominations close on Thursday for the Katikati-Waihi Beach ward by-election.
One seat on Council recently became available following the resignation of councillor Christina Humphreys.
According to the Western Bay of Plenty website, to be eligible to stand for election, a candidate must be enrolled as a Parliamentary elector; be a New Zealand citizen; and nominated by two electors of the Katikati-Waihi Beach Ward area.
If more than one nomination is received by the close of nominations at noon on Thursday, March 4, a postal ballot will be held for the electors of the Katikati-Waihi Beach Ward.
The by-election will finish at midday Friday, April 30.
Those wishing to make a nomination can do so online.
Nomination papers can also be collected from Council's Main Office, Barkes Corner, 1484 Cameron Road in Greerton, from The Centre Pātuki Manawa, 21 Main Road Katikati; or from the Waihi Beach Library & Service Centre on Waihi Beach Road.
Preliminary results will be known as soon as they are available after the close of voting on by-election day, and final results (including approved special votes) will be available later that afternoon.
