Speed bump road closure postponed

The road closure for Wairoa Road and Te Puna Station Road, near the junctions to the Wairoa River Reserve, has been postponed.

The Western Bay of Plenty District Council says they have been informed by FCC Infrastructure, who are managing the bridge extension project, that this closure has been postponed until after Christmas.

'The road closure on Wairoa River Reserve Road is no longer planned for next week. BPC have decided to minimise disruption at this stage and postpone this work to after the Christmas period.”

The road closure was to allow installation of a speed hump under the State Highway 2 Bridge.

A smart thing

Wouldn't it be a smart / safe thing to have no right hand turns on to SH2 at Te Puna Station road and Wairoa road by utilizing the underpass. Redesign the underpass so both users can be safe.

Safe but usable

Need to keep it open the RT open for trucks that cant go under the bridge. The visibility for is bad esp for 100kph road..cant see due to the bridge. Need to close the road at the Hospice to help with SH2 traffic.

A great idea Kaimai

I really does need some sort of revamp to merge traffic on to the highway, the bigger vehicles that cannot go under the bridge are sitting for ages trying to get out onto this road

Traffic Control

There is a huge amount of traffic from Wairoa Road that gets onto SH2 by going under the bridge. If that access is going to be blocked, the council will need to think about putting some traffic control in place to allow Wairoa Road traffic access SH2 otherwise it will be backed up to Junction Road.
