Starting next week, Wairoa Road and Te Puna Station Road will be closed at the junctions to the Wairoa River Reserve.
These closures will taking place on Monday, December 16 and Tuesday, December 17 from 9am to 4pm.
This is to enable installation of a speed hump under the State Highway 2 bridge.
'All traffic from Wairoa Road will have to exit on to SH2 during the closure. Motorists are urged to take particular care during these times,” says the Western Bay of Plenty District Council Facebook page.
'The work is part of the Wairoa Cycleway Bridge Project. Traffic management and signage will be on site at all times during the work to minimise inconvenience to the public and road users.”

Why?

Why can this not be done at night instead of risking lives as we head into the silly season. This is such a hugely dangerous intersection where a split second decision can cost lives.
An accident waiting to happen

I hope there will be traffic control for those people exiting Wairoa Road towards tauranga, its way too dangerous and nobody let's you have a gap anyway
