A truck has crashed in Welcome Bay, blocking the road.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says a truck and trailer unit has crashed on the road, near Rocky Cutting Road.

"The trailer appears to be on its side and it is blocking one lane.

"Firefighters are at the scene."

A reporter at the scene says there is a lot of dirt all over the road.

"They are trying to right it at the moment with a hiab.

"Police have blocked off the road at Rocky Cutting and Kairua roads."

A police spokesperson says they were called to the scene where a truck and trailer had rolled along Welcome Bay Road between Kairua Road and Rocky Cutting Road at around 10.50am.

'There doesn't appear to be any injuries, the driver was out of the vehicle.

'The eastbound lane is blocked.”

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible, or expect delays.
