Fire services attended the scene of a burning car in Te Puna in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The fire also took hold along a shelter belt bordering a nearby property.
Police received a report of a car on fire on Snodgrass Rd around 1.50am this morning.
FENZ reports that one fire appliance attended the scene and extinguished the fire which had extended to the nearby shelter belt causing significant damage to some of the trees.
The car was completely burnt out, and was taped off by fire services after the fire had been extinguished.
It is unknown if the driver of the vehicle was nearby at the time of the fire.
