People traveling around Tauranga next week are being warned to expect high traffic volumes.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists to plan their journey before heading out in the Bay of Plenty during the annual AIMS Games.
The AIMS Games gets starts on September 8 and will continue through to September 13.
'With more than 10,000 competitors and supporters in Tauranga for AIMS Games, please allow extra time while travelling as there will be an increase in traffic during the day, particularly before and after school hours (before 9am and after 3pm) on roads leading to the city's large sports grounds.
'We would also like to remind visitors to the city, that there is a 50km/h temporary speed limit throughout the Baypark to Bayfair Link project as construction of two new flyovers and improvements to the roundabouts continue.
'AIMS Games competitors and supporters are reminded to use the designated footpaths and crossings through the construction site.
'Motorists are reminded to please slow down, keep a safe following distance, and stay focused.”
