Serious injuries in Tauranga crash

Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash in Bureta tonight.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there has been a crash at the intersection of Ngatai Road and Chapel Street.

"One person may be trapped in a vehicle.

"Emergency services have been called."

A reporter at the scene says it looks like three vehicles might be involved in the crash.

"They are just using the jaws of life at the moment to cut a person from one of the vehicles,"

A police spokesperson says emergency services were called to Ngatai Rd about 8.12pm following a crash involving three vehicles.

"Initial information suggests one person is seriously injured, and another has moderate injuries.

"The Serious Crash Unit has been advised. "

All respect to the police in a challenging society and under manned. Is saying this, there is a gross negligence of traffic policing in Tauranga. Almost anarchy on the roads.
