State Highway 30 in the Bay of Plenty is closed tonight following a crash.

A police spokesperson says police are currently attending to a crash at SH 30 on Kope Drain Rd involving two vehicles.

"Two people are trapped and Fire services are at the scene. Road closures are in place.

"No other updates at this moment."

NZTA says the highway is closed between Fortune Road and Kope Drain Road in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

"Due to a Crash this section of state highway is closed.

"Please follow the directions of emergency services on site and expect delays."

Alternative Route

Eastbound traffic turn right onto Fortune Road, left onto Paroa road, left onto Kope Drain Rd and back onto SH30. Westbound traffic turn left onto Paroa Rd, right onto Fortune Rd and back onto SH30.
