Broken down truck causing traffic delays

Delays are expected after a truck has broken down near the Tauranga Harbour Bridge.

UPDATE 10.57AM: A truck and trailer has broken down on the Tauranga Harbour Bridge this morning and is expected to cause traffic delays in the area.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says traffic is starting to back up in the area.

"The truck's front right tire looks like it just exploded, and there is pieces of tire everywhere.

"It is blocking the middle lane, near the Sulphur Point on-ramp."

Traffic heading towards the Mount along the Harbour Bridge are warned to expect delays or if possible to take another route.

A broken down truck is blocking one lane near the Tauranga Harbour Bridge this morning.

A SunLive reader who drove past says the truck is blocking one lane for traffic heading from Bethlehem to Mount Maunganui.

"Cars will still be able to get around it, but there will be delays. The truck is located near the Mirrielees Road on-ramp.

"Looks like it had blown a tyre. I don't think it will be going anywhere in a hurry."
