The weather forecast is showing a partly cloudy day with a chance of showers until the evening. Also light winds. It's a two-clothing-layer day, with an expected high of 18 degrees and an overnight low of 7 degrees.

On Sunday May 26, we're expecting cloudy periods with light winds. For the week ahead, expect showers and some westerlies.

Captain Pinky will be delighting Tauranga's youngest theatregoers with ‘Captain Pinky's Pirate Toddler Boogie' at 11am this morning. ‘Captain Pinky' is a pirate-themed disco aimed at children aged up to five years old and promises to be packed with solid gold hits, sea shanties and plenty of bad jokes. Parents are also encouraged to join in the dancing, and whilst eye patches and pirate hats are not compulsory, they will be very much welcomed at the Saturday morning show at Baycourt. It's a busy day for WaiBOP Championship, NRFL and Bay Relics who all have home games at Links Ave today. Kick-off is at 12.30pm. NRFL 1st are playing Three Kings United at 3pm. Follow updates on the teams here

Unashamed Tauranga 2019 will be happening at Otumoetai College today from 6.30pm – 9pm. A youth and young adult event, it will be featuring great sounds, yum kai, captivating creatives and some powerful speakers, from Excel School of Performing Arts, Sonya Cossey Creative, The Society Dance Co, Mattie Montgomery and more. The weather is looking great for Tauranga Sport Fishing Club's Snapper Classic Tournament which is on today Saturday May 25 and tomorrow Sunday May 26. There are many prizes up for grabs, with funds raised going to help support the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter.
