What‘s on - markets, fun run and Mother’s Day

Kia ora and welcome to Sunday! It's also Mother's Day, and we had a lovely pink, orange and purple-hued sunrise this morning.

The weather forecast is for showers developing in the morning, and northerlies strengthening. Expect rain from the evening. Temperatures are expected to go to a high of 21 and an overnight low of 16 degrees.

On Monday there are likely to be a few showers until early afternoon, then becoming fine. Tuesday should be mainly fine, Wednesday may have a few showers, Thursday fine, Friday more showers, and then settling into a fine weekend.

There are many activities on today, so let's go enjoy them!

The Ohauiti Country Market is on today from 10am – 2pm at the Ohauiti Hall, 459 Ohauiti Rd. Held indoors, it's a lovely friendly market where all stallholders make their own products. More here

The Papamoa Pup Playdate is planned for 2pm – 4pm at Simpson Reserve in Papamoa today, despite the weather looking less than ideal. Keep updated on this through their Facebook page.

The Jennian Homes Mother's Day Fun Run/Walk 2019 is being held at Kulim Park today from 9am – 12noon. The event is offering families across the country the chance to have fun on Mother's Day, get active together and support the Heart Foundation along the way. Check out more here

High tide is at 1pm andTauranga Windsurfers are holding an Autumn Board meet at Kulim Park with barbecue following, from 11am – 5pm.

The Torch Songs Band is playing at The Entertainers Club cnr Cameron Rd and 13th Ave, from 5pm – 8pm. Torch Songs Band is a long standing local seven-piece jazz and blues fusion concert band with vocalist Carol Storey, pianist Liam Ryan, Grant Mason on trumpet, guitarist Dave Maybee, bass player Wayne Melville, Neil Reynolds on drums and vocalist Nataalia Liunson. You'll find a Mothers Day Roast at The Hop House ; a Mother's Day Treat hosted by Tauranga Parent Centre at RYE Bar & Grill from 11am – 12noon; Mother's Day Tunes with Kendall Lee at BlackBerry Eatery at Fashion Island in Papamoa from 10.30am- 2.30pm; Mother's Day celebration with live Music at The Rising Tide from 11am – 10pm; a Mother's Day Muso Jam at The Black Sheep Bar & Grill in Whakamarama; and a Mother's Day Dinner at Oscar and Otto on the Strand from 5pm – 10pm.

Doreen McNeill's exhibition ‘XCBition' is running at The Incubator Creative Hub until May 15, and celebrates the work of renowned local artist Doreen McNeill on her 90th birthday. Check out the exhibition here.
