UPDATE 3.45PM: Police are asking motorists to avoid the area near the Te Puke High School following a crash.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Tui Road at 3.30pm to a bus that has collided with a pole.

A police spokesperson says they are unsure of any injuries.

"Motorists are asked to avoid the area while police and fire remove the lines."

EARLIER:

A bus has collided with a pole in Te Puke this afternoon.

A caller to the SunLive 0800 news hotline says it happened on Tui Street, near the Te Puke High School.

"Powerlines are lying on the road."
