One person is in hospital after having to be freed from a vehicle following a serious crash in Tauranga.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Fraser Street around 9pm.

A police spokesperson says initial reports were that the crash was a car versus another car.

'There was mention of possibly three vehicles involved but it's not clear.

'One person had moderate injuries.”

The section of the road was closed while emergency services attended the scene but was re-opened shortly before 10.30pm.
