Emergency services are responding to an incident on Pyes Pa Road.

A message to the SunLive Facebook page says ambulance and police are near the funeral home.

'There are two police cars, two ambulances and a first responder car.

'There was a waste management truck on the side of the road as well as a waste management ute,” says Rebecca Walker.

A reporter at the scene says the road is down to one lane.

"Traffic management is in place."

A police spokesperson says one patient has been transported to Tauranga Hospital in a critical condition.

"The Serious Crash Unit will examine the scene."
