Coromandel residents will be waiting for 2020 to come around when the town celebrates their 200th anniversary.
The Coromandel 200 event is tied in with the town's Illume Festival and a highlight includes a visit of the Royal Navy ship 'Coromandel”.
Included in the celebrations are a fireworks display, art exhibitions, food stalls, live acts and fun activities.
Coromandel 200 spokesperson Peter Pritchard says a new exciting event is included amongst the celebrations.
'We are also looking forward to a new event, an 1820s themed ball.
'With all of this to plan, we are seeking support from volunteers.
'We have roles for a variety of volunteer and all help is appreciates. There will be general preparation and setting up duties on the day, along with pre-planning and innovative ideas that will add flavour to the whole community event.”
Peter also encourages stall holders to set up and sell their goods during the community events.
