Early childhood centre opens in Papamoa

Founder of BestStart’s early childhood centres Wayne Wright and Mayor of Tauranga Greg Brownless.

Tauranga is where it all began for early childhood centre operator BestStart's.

Now 22-years-later it's opened another one centre, this time in Papamoa.

BestStart Coast Boulevard Early Childhood Centre will be licensed for 100 children.

That takes to 23 the number of early childhood centres BestStart's has opened in the Bay of Plenty.

The Centre was opened by Tauranga Mayor Greg Brownless, whose wife is an early childhood teacher.

He says his love of reading came from his mother who used to read to him when he was very young stressing the importance of learning through play by quoting Albert Einstein who said 'Learning through play is the highest form of research.”

The centre deputy chief executive Fiona Hughes says the centre will grow strong ties with the community.

"BestStart Coast Boulevard's culture will be formed by working respectfully alongside with the Papamoa community.

'With so much going on and the involvement of many local families, the centre will become a vibrant hub for the local community.

'The centre has indoor spaces built to support the learning and development of every age group – infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers.

'Each room is equipped with high quality, focused resources designed to spark curious minds.

'The centre has expansive outdoor areas where children can challenge themselves on the playground equipment while building their independence and self-confidence.

'Healthy, nutritious meals and snacks are provided throughout the day.”
