NZ Police warn drivers to pay attention in the wet

NZ Police are wanting motorists to pay attention and make safe decisions.

New Zealand Police are wanting road users to pay attention and make safe decisions, especially when poor weather hits.

Jannine Bishop, who has driven over the Kaimai's this morning says there is a lot of water on the road over the Kaimai Range.

'It's like rivers crossing the road. It's so dangerous.

'Everyone needs to slow down. I've never seen it as bad as this before.

'There's streams of water gushing down along the road and then flowing over the road.

'Cars are going too fast, they need to slow down,” she says.

A police spokesperson says every driver or rider needs to be in a position to react quickly and safely.

'Road conditions can be slippery and there may be surface flooding.”
