Police have released the name of the man who died following a crash on State Highway 2, near Matata, on Monday.
Matata man Nigel Laurence Ihaia died after the vehicle he was driving crashed on the highway around 4.20pm
Police say the crash caused power lines to come down on the road.
'Nobody else was injured in the crash.
Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
"Police offer their sympathies to the friends and family of Mr Ihaia."
