Three people are reported to be injured following a trail bike ride near Matata.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern communication shift manager Scott Osmond says the riders have been injured at a track on Mimiha Road.

"This has happened at Burt Brother's Trail Ride Track on Mimiha Road.

"Three people have had accidents on trail bikes."

The seriousness of the riders' injuries has not yet been confirmed, however SunLive understands a rescue helicopter has been called to the scene.

A memorial ride is said to be taking place at the locally run truck today, according to a post on the Burt Brothers Trail Ride Facebook page.
