The woman who died in a crash between a scooter and car in the Bay of Plenty has been named.

Eighty-seven-year-old Francisca Maria Hawkes-Buchanan died in the crash at the intersection of Arawa and Rangiuru Streets, Rotorua on 25 September.

She was from Rotorua.

"Police extend our sympathies to her family and friends.

"The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash."
