Pair recovering in hospital after serious crash

Police diverted traffic away from the crash scene on Monday.

A man and a woman seriously injured in a crash on Te Puke Highway are recovering in Tauranga Hospital.

The pair were injured in a crash which closed the highway for several hours on Monday.

A 50-year-old Te Puke man and a 39-year-old Mount Maunganui woman were both seriously injured when their vehicles collided on the Te Puke Highway near Bell Road in Papamoa.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 6.55am and the road reopened around 10am.

A Bay of Plenty District Health Board communications spokesperson says the man and woman are both in a ward and are stable.

A police spokesperson says inquiries are ongoing to understand the circumstances of the crash.

BOP accidents

There got to be a better explanation the public is not told about on why there is so many accidents in the BOP.If it is the roads everyone would be crashing.
