UPDATED 12.38PM: State Highway 25, between Waihi and Whangamata, is now open following a serious crash earlier today.

While the highway is open, stop/go traffic management is in place.

Motorists are being urged to drive with extra care in the area.

The road was closed following a two-vehicle crash, involving a car and a motorcycle, was reported at around 11.15am.

Police are attending serious crash on SH25, between Waihi and Whangamata.

The two-vehicle crash, involving a car and a motorcycle, was reported at around 11.15am today.

"The road is blocked between Golden Valley Road and Whiritoa Beach Road," says a police spokesperson.

"Motorists are asked to avoid the area. More information will be released when it becomes available."
