State Highway 35, between Opotiki and Te Kaha, will remain closed overnight.
A large slip near Whitianga Bay means the road is closed in both directions.
"This slip is still developing and the road will remain closed overnight," says the NZTA.
"This will be reassessed Sunday morning. Avoid this area or delay your journey."

Had to go into the city today,there was more streets closed than open with total traffic jam..Cant the council program work to be done in stages?
