A suspected drunk driver crashed into a house in Huntly, leaving the owners a bit surprised.
The accident happened on Harris St on the western side of the north Waikato town at 7pm on Friday.
The driver of the car was initially unresponsive after crashing into the side of the house, says Waikato police Senior Sergeant Simon Cherry.
She later appeared to be intoxicated, he says.
Huntly Fire Chief Craig Bush says the woman, who was the only person in the car, left the road and crashed through a fence into the side of the home.
"The owners were a bit surprised - there was a bit of damage to the weatherboards, but no structural damage."
The vehicle suffered serious damage to the front and was undrivable, he says.
The woman was able to get herself out of the vehicle and was checked over by St John paramedics.
Police were dealing with the driver at the scene.
