UPDATED 9.13AM: One person has died following a crash in Morrinsville.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Piako Road about 8.10am.

"Two other people have been transported to hospital in a moderate condition," says a police spokesperson.

"Police advise motorists to avoid the area if possible.

"The road will remain closed while a scene examination is carried out."
