Police have released the name of a woman who died following a mobility scooter incident in Tauranga.
Patricia Bonser died after an item of her clothing became caught in one of the wheels of the mobility scooter, causing her to lose consciousness, says a police spokesperson.
The incident happened on Gravatt Road around 10am on Monday.
"Members of the public attempted to provide assistance to the woman before emergency services arrived but tragically she was unable to be revived."
Patricia was aged 78-years-old from Papamoa.
The woman's death will be referred to the Coroner, says police.
"Our thoughts go out to her family at this sad time."
