Retaining wall crash and car fires

A driver has escaped injuries after crashing over a retaining wall at Brookfield New World in Tauranga.

A police media spokesperson says police were called to the incident on Bellevue Road just after 6pm.

'Police were called to the New World supermarket at about 6.20pm, where a person had driven over a retaining wall and become stuck.”

Police say no one was injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, motorists are being warned to pay attention to what they are doing after three cars were damaged by a fire in Hamilton this morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash around 8am.

'A reminder to everyone, that when you are driving, please keep your eyes on the road,” reads a post on the Hamilton City Fire Area Facebook page.

The fire was caused by a nose-to-tail this morning resulting in six cars being severely damaged.

'Crews arrived to find two cars fully ablaze with a third also damaged by fire. Drive safe everyone.”
