A person has died after being hit by a truck on State Highway 29a.
A police media spokesperson says it happened at about 4.40am.
"There are cordons in place at Maungatapu Bridge, and at the SH29a/Maungatapu/Welcome Bay roundabout.
"Southbound lanes remain open but motorists are asked to take care in the area and follow the directions of officers at the scene.
"No further details regarding the deceased are available at this stage."
