Woman seriously injured in Desert Road crash

A woman is in Waikato Hospital after being seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on the Desert Road.

The woman was flown to hospital around 5.30am.

Fire and Emergency northern communications shift manager Craig Dally says the car the woman was travelling in crashed into a ditch about 20 minutes south of Turangi.

Firefighters had to cut the woman from the vehicle.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
