A front is expected to stay slow-moving about East Cape and Bay of Plenty through to Monday.

A low is forecast to move slowly southwestwards over Coromandel Peninsula this afternoon or evening, then weaken away during Monday.

Metservice say the front and low are expected to deliver further periods of rain to eastern parts of the North Island, with heavy falls at times.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Bay of Plenty east of Opotiki, and Gisborne north of Tolaga Bay.

People are advised to keep up to date with forecasts as parts of this watch may be upgraded to a full warning.
