Morning Sunners and welcome to an action packed Sunday.
Today's weather isn't too shabby with a high of 16 degrees and 5 degrees overnight. MetService say it will be a partly cloudy day with a few afternoon showers and westerlies.
If you think you're tough braving the cold though, think again. Several members of the public will be ‘freezin' for a reason'.
The fourth annual Papamoa Polar Plunge will be taking place today, with local organisation Ocean Blue Health and Fitness putting up $1000 cash for the winner to donate to a Tauranga non-profit group of their choice.
Men, women, and children of all ages will brave the freezing temperatures from 11am-1pm at Papamoa Beach.
Event manager Kate Percy from Papamoa Unlimited says the Polar Plunge is a great opportunity for people to come together in the spirit of giving back to the community.
'While the money will certainly make a difference for the winners, the real value is in the spirit that is conjured as a result of such teamwork,” says Kate.
Schools, sports clubs, community organisations, individuals and businesses are invited to join forces in pursuit of the prize money.
