What’s On? Planting & Roller Disco

The Papamoa Hills planting day is on today. File photo.

Salutations, SunLive readers, and thanks for tuning in on a Saturday morning.

We're more than halfway through June now, with another ten weeks or so of winter to go.

But that's not depressing at all! The forecast today is for a high of 18 degrees and a low of 11, with rain developing from this evening.

If the wet holds off until tonight, why not head along the Papamoa Hills Regional Park for one of their annual planting days?

'We have 30,000 native trees to plant in this year's revegetation site at the top of the park. We'd love some help from locals to get the plants into the ground,” says Bay of Plenty Regional Council senior projects officer Courtney Bell.

'Anyone that's keen to lend a hand should come along to the trig site, approximately 30 minutes' walk uphill from the Poplar Lane car park, at 10am on either day. Bring gardening gloves and a spade if you have them.”

Later this afternoon, Skatescool Tauranga is hosting a family roller disco at the Greerton Hall.

Absolute beginners and experienced skaters are all welcome to attend the disco from 4-6pm. Entry is $10 or $35 per family, which covers the cost of skate and protective padding hire. For more information, visit the Facebook event page.
