Motorists are being warned of flooding on State Highway 2, near Katikati.
A reporter who drove out to the area says there is significant flooding across SH2, opposite the Apata Coolstore and Packhouse facility.
Flooding has also forced the NZTA to close SH2, between Highfields Dr and Beach Rd.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
Power is also reported to be out in the Brookfield area and in Whakamarama.
A severe weather warning is in place and more heavy rain is expected tonight.

thats that same stupid narrow bridge and the road that never have been been built the way it is and has never been fixed, im surprised this bridge does not have many fatal crashes
