What’s On? Disc Golf & Taekwondo

Can you believe that we're just about a third of the way through the year?

I know, it snuck up on me too.

For those of you who feel like you haven't been fully-utilising your Sundays, we've got some great events you can check out today, including two tournaments for two very different sports.

The Tauranga Disc Golf Association's 66 Xtreme Disc Golf Tournament is having its second day of competition at McLaren Falls.

TDGA member and tournament director Dazz Switalla says it's his 12-strong club's annual tournament and is called the 66 Xtreme for one reason.

'Because we have one of the hardest courses in the country. And people come from all over the country for it because it is also part of the National Disc Golf Tour put on by the NZ Disc Golf Association.”

Disc golf, for the uninitiated, is like regular golf, but with Frisbees instead of balls, and metal baskets instead of holes. And no golf clubs.

Spectators are welcome to view the excitement from Pinoak Flat between 10am-4pm.

The ITF Taekwondo Midlands Regional Tournament is also on today at Aquinas College Action Centre. Clubs from across the central North Island will be represented, with more than 100 competitors expected to face off in fundamentals and clash in sparring.

The tournament is scheduled to start at 9am, with all events expected to conclude by 4pm.

Whats on

Please guys. It would be so wonderful if you could put the "Whats on in Tauranga" a day at least before it is due to happen. So often as the online paper doesn't come out until after lunch the event is finished or in the middle of, or just too late to be able to attend. What do you think?
