All good things must come to an end.
So it is with Easter weekend. These long weekends never seem long enough, although we've been blessed with generally fine weather since the cyclone blew through last week without much incident.
Unfortunately, today looks to be a little wet, which may put a damper on some of the fantastic events wrapping up.
Among them, of course, is the Jazz Festival, which has its final set of performers taking to the stage this afternoon. There will be the Tauranga Big Band and the Queen City Big Band, with children's rides and other entertainment on the waterfront as part of the TECT Waterfront Gala. If the weather scuppers it, though, we'll let you know.
Tauranga City United AFC are also playing a couple home games today at their headquarters at 130 Links Ave, Mount Maunganui. Their Facebook page says ‘weather permitting', however, so it might pay to keep an eye out for cancellations.
Fortunately, the Mel Young Easter Basketball Classic is being played indoors, so keen sports fans can still get their fix that way.
And don't forget the book sale! Gosh, that would actually be perfect if the outdoor events get cancelled. Thank you, books!

Why is there such a emphasis on this event being the " National Jazz Festival"?, rather ironic when in the photo we have a blues band and behind them a hoarding with Jazz Festival on it!, go figure, the lustre has gone with the strand just being a giant alcohol extravaganza!, the music is secondary as one could not decipher one band from the next so laughter and punters having fun is one thing, but a "Jazz Festival" it is not!!!!.
