The school years are an important time in any child's life – a gateway to learning and understanding the world – but while this crucial period is incredibly rewarding, it can also be the most challenging.
Internationally renowned educator Lance King understands this, and that's why he's dedicated the last 20 years to helping more than 200,000 students, and thousands of teachers and parents alike to maximise the effectiveness of learning during those important years.
Lance King is presenting a free seminar on Monday.
The Raglan-based author, teacher and workshop facilitator, who regularly works in 26 different countries around the world, is delivering a free seminar in Tauranga this month at ACG Tauranga on September 19, focussed on the ‘Learning Skills' approach to academic and personal success.
Aimed at parents, this 90-minute workshop is designed to equip the parents of both junior and senior school-aged children with the knowledge and understanding of how to keep their child motivated, as well as tips for creating a conducive learning environment outside the classroom.
ACG Tauranga principal Shawn Hutchinson says it's a pleasure to have Lance in the region, and encourages parents to attend this valuable session.
'From experience, Lance's seminars are thought-provoking, engaging and entertaining. He'll get parents thinking about aspects of their children's development they may not have thought of, and provide valuable insight into the student mind, to get the most out of your child's education.
'ACG Tauranga is thrilled to be hosting this event, and I look forward to seeing Lance in action – it's an opportunity not to be missed.”
Lance says he's excited to share his approaches to learning success with Tauranga, and enjoys hearing first-hand from parents their stories of success and struggle.
'What is the ultimate aim of education? To develop children who can learn well without the help of teachers, independently and autonomously; children who have gained all the skills they need to become effective, efficient, self-regulated learners.
'This seminar will give parents many tips and strategies to support their children's learning both at school and at home and hopefully will leave parents informed and inspired to become more involved in their child's learning process.”
Lance King is presenting a free parent seminar at ACG Tauranga, 6 Keenan Road, Pyes Pa on Monday, September 19, from 6.30-8pm. Parents and members of the public interested in attending should contact the school on (07) 213 0101 to reserve a space before Friday, September 16.
