Tauranga's Robyn O'Brien is the city's first recipient of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors Rotorua/Bay of Plenty Branch's $1000 annual scholarship.
The former Tauranga Girls' College student, who commences a Bachelor of Surveying at the University of Otago later this month, is also the first female to receive the scholarship in the five years it has been awarded.

The scholarship is awarded annually to a student undertaking their first year in a full-time Bachelor of Surveying at the University of Otago or the National Diploma in Surveying offered at Unitec in Auckland.
'The quality of the candidates this year was outstanding, but Robyn was our choice as we were impressed with her academic record, enthusiasm and her desire to succeed in her chosen field of surveying,” says Michael Dewhirst of the Rotorua/Bay of Plenty Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors.
'From our interview, we are confident that she will be an excellent surveyor and a valued member of the surveying profession. We wish her well with her studies.”
