Tests have confirmed Psa is in Katikati according to the newly formed Kiwifruit Vine Health Incorporated.

The organisation, formed to manage the Psa outbreak, also announced the disease has spread to Horowhenua.

About 75 per cent of infected orchards are within a 23km area south of Te Puke.

The majority of Psa symptoms identified in orchards are considered primary symptoms – leaf spotting.

Orchards that only grow Green kiwifruit account for 44 of the 107 orchards that have tested positive.

Up to 30 orchards demonstrating primary symptoms have removed infected vines.

Case managers are working closely with Psa affected growers with orchards that demonstrate secondary symptoms to coordinate a comprehensive orchard assessment and to define, agree and act upon a Psa management strategy.
