Andrew Von Dadelszen is disappointed not to be re-elected to Bay of Plenty Regional Council and says after six years of hard work he is now in the unenviable position of having to find a new job.
Andrew Von Dadelszen is upset about not being re-elected after feeling he has done a good job for the region. He is pictured here (left) with local and central government politicians discussing SmartGrowth opportunities.
Andrew is proud of his achievements on the council though, particularly with developing the region's transport infrastructure.
'I have had a big part to play in transport for the city,” says Andrew, who was a key player in changes to the public transport service in increasing usage of the Bay Hoppers and in working toward improving roading.
He was chairperson of the region's joint council transport committee and was often involved in 'getting central and local government collaborating together”.
Also not re-elected is Karen Summerhayes. Karen and Andrew did return considerable support though.
'There was a split vote,” says Andrew, 'there were six of us in that range between 10-12,000.”
Phillip Sherry and John Cronin are re-elected, and worthy of their position, says Andrew.
'I expected them to be re-elected and was hoping that we would all be there.”
Andrew and Karen are replaced as Tauranga constituent representatives on Bay of Plenty Regional Council by Douglas Owens and Paula Thompson.

Goodness me voters- methinks you have made a mistake by not re-electing Andrew von Daldezen to the Regional Council. He has heaps of experience and heaps of talent. Please try again next time Andrew.
Hard to fathom

Sorry to see that you and Karen have both missed out. You both have done excellent work. The whole name recognition factor is a worry when it comes to elections. Many people have no idea who the hard working, community minded people really are. Thanks for the support you both gave me in my campaign for TCC.
Not so hard to fathom

Possibly Andrew's loss could be put down to the failure of the stockbroking business which seemed to suddenly happen while he was out of the country. Voters can be unforgiving about that sort of thing. Probably hard to still claim your great at business. Paula Thompson got in with more votes than Karen Summerhayes and that's democracy. We either have democracy or we don't, and people who don't get in just have to get a job elsewehere and try again next time.
DEMOCRACY

Lets take a look at that … DEMO = level it, flatten it and so on C = See, see it or watch it happen RAC = Race or racing Y = why, how or when ? under the radar of course
