Result: Otumoetai – Pyes Pa ward

Catherine Stewart is returning to office as the lead candidate from the Otumoetai Pyes Pa ward, after she claimed 3367 votes in the Tauranga City Council election.

She is being joined by Larry Baldock, who is well known for his stance on the ‘anti-smacking' legislation. In 2009 he led campaigns and referenda in the Western Bay of Plenty to have government scrap these laws.

Larry Baldock and Catherine Stewart are the Otumoetai - Pyes Pa ward candidates to be succesful in the 2010 Tauranga City Council election.

He will likely have less time for this agenda now, however, as with 3045 votes he is now a Tauranga City Councillor for the Otumoetai – Pyes Pa ward.

He is taking the place of Mike Baker, who claimed 2305 votes in the election and leaves the city council after serving one term on it.

The third most popular candidate from Otumoetai Pyes Pa ward was Richard Kluit with 2872 votes.

These are the progress results and represent about 98 per cent of the vote.

I have no confidence in either of these two. One struggles to understand the simple things and the other enjoys the Lord. They better place a priority in ensuring that the new council functions in a way that ‘divisions' are a thing of the past.

Good result

Go Larry! You're certainly needed. Thanks for being there for this hitherto dire Council.

Well Done

Cangrats Catherine. Good to see someone with common sense back. Larry Baldock - I think he will either "run with the fox and hunt with the hounds" or join the Crosby "rat pack". What a complete and utter mess this election has been. Those who did not bother to vote will have no cause to complain when rates go through the roof. Serves them bloody well right. Unfortunately it also effects adversly those of us who did vote for change. When will people ever learn.
