Received a $0 rates notice?

If you are confused by a rates notice sent out this week showing a credit balance of $0 or similar you need not worry.

The Thames Coromandel District Council says the notices were accidentally printed and posted by their postal provider and there's no reason to be concerned.

TCDC spokesman Drew Mehrtens says invoices or credit balances with $0 are not normally printed and posted in order to save on unnecessary costs.

'This time our postal provider accidentally triggered these to be printed and posted.

'Our postal provider apologises for the error and has assured us that we and our ratepayers will be recompensed for the unnecessary printing and postage.”

Drew says there are 1584 accounts affected by the error and hopes the majority of locals will see there is nothing currently owing and simply file the account.

If you were one a ratepayer who received this notice TCDC apologises for any concerns you may have felt before seeing your correct balance at the bottom of the invoice, says Drew.
