The public has voted a Coromandel Town bach as the best for hospitality in the 2014 Bookabach Golden Piwa Awards announced this week.

The awards are named after Bookabach's mascot Piwa the Piwakawaka (fantail) and more than 250 baches were nominated by 3500 members during September.
Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were handed out in eight categories for Best Setting, Best City, Best Child-friendly, Best Pet- friendly, Best Luxury, Best Quirky, Best Eco and Best Hospitality.
Beverley says it's wonderful to share Wyuna Magic, which has been in her family for the past 50 odd years, with holidaymakers.
'I've received fantastic feedback on the house and my dealings with people so it's great to be recognised for both.
'I called it ‘Wyuna Magic' because of what and where the house is, people can tell it's a loved home and that I've put a lot of energy into it.”
'I've already chosen a spot on the wall where my gold plaque will go which is quite exciting.
Beverley says the property was originally scrub land when her father purchased it from her grandfather back in the 1960's.
Cabins were eventually built and then later Beverley's parents constructed a retirement home on the site, which is now Wyuna Magic.
Beverley has rented out the bach to holidaymakers for the past five years, she says
'I've tried to make it as welcoming as possible as soon as people arrive. It's basically a house where you can move straight in and make yourself at home.”

Bookabach general manager Peter Miles says Best Hospitality is an important category because most baches are managed by owners in their spare time.
The industry is sometimes seen as ‘amateur' as baches are not hotels without 24/7 service but online feedback shows extraordinarily high levels of guest satisfaction, he says.
'Bach owners are giving you the key to something that's very near and dear to them and their families.
'There's a sense of pride in ownership, so they really do care about your experience.”
Beverley would like to thank all the guests who have voted for Wyuna Magic in this year's awards.
She also thanks her partner Peter saying she could not have succeeded without him.
'Peter helps me out a lot and encourages me whenever we get a bit busy. I really couldn't have done it without him.”
