A new reading challenge is awaiting children at Thames Coromandel District libraries these school holidays.
The challenge, called Library Connect Four, gets children reading to friends and family or showing up to holiday craft activities and story times at the library to earn Connect Four counters.
During the upcoming school holidays a new challenge to get children reading will be on offer at TCDC libraries.
Once they earn four counters, children line them up on the library's giant Connect Four boards to complete the challenge is and earn their rewards, says Tairua librarian Emma Darragh.
'Library Connect Four is all about connecting with friends and family through shared reading.”
Connect Four will be open to all children, including those who are visiting the Coromandel Peninsula during the holidays.
Pop into the library to pick up a game card and play Connect Four until October 10.
Story Time and Craft Activities will also run in conjunction with Connect Four during the school holidays, every Wednesday and Friday, from 10am.
To secure a spot for your children register at the Thames, Tairua or Mercury Bay libraries no later than the day before.
