Time to vote begins

Voting in the triennial local government elections begins Friday with voting packs to arrive in mailboxes around the city with the last of them in the post by Wednesday.
Voting continues until noon Saturday, October 9, a which point a ballot must be in the hands of the returning officer to be counted.

Voting packs include a candidates' profile statement booklet, voting papers and a return envelope for people to put their voting paper in.
The council election is by postal vote. To ensure voting papers are received by noon, Saturday October 9, they should be in the mail by Thursday, October 7 at the latest.
Last-minute voters can place their voting papers in a ballot box in the city council's reception area, which will be open until noon on October 9. Votes received after noon will not be counted.
Special votes can be issued if voting papers are lost or not received.
Special votes are also available for people who will be away from the district during the election, people on the unpublished roll and those who are not yet on the electoral roll - but they must still enrol before they can vote.

Election Racketeering

Anne Pankhurst has used her position in the Chamber of Commerce to email everyone in their address book, to suggest who is best to vote for. This is a severe breach of Trust and inappropriate behaviour on her part. The Chamber should be disciplining Anne and retracting the statements made. I won\'t be voting for her, not that I intended to anyway.

Election Racketeering

Seems Anne Pankhurst has taken it on herself to email everyone in the Chamber of Commerce\'s address book and advise them who to vote for. Entirely inappropriate and using her position for her own gain. The Chamber should be coming down on her and the emails retracted. I wasn\'t going to vote for her, even more so, after this debacle.
