Greerton roundabout, at the intersection of Chadwick Road and Cameron Road, looks set to get its own traffic lights after five Bay Hopper bus crash in the area in the last year.
The roundabout is the one of the few remaining intersections on Cameron Road without traffic lights.
According to information from the Bay of Plenty Regional Council, the buses were in service at the time of the crashes and information shows the bus drivers were at fault.

Tauranga City Council transport manager Martin Parkes says they are investigating a number of ideas are being investigated to improve the intersection but the ultimate plan is to remove the roundabout and put traffic lights in place.

happens is with useless drivers that cant see it is very short of space still move up next to heavy transport on either side then leave them no room to move, anyhow buses should not be going around and coming back twice the route needs to change so they in one way only

As usual, staff refuse to focus on the 'real issues', the proximity of the uncontrolled pedestrian crossing and access into the parking. We have 5-6 million vehicle movements through their a year so not surprising that their are a few (minor, non injury) scraps! The small roundabout serves too slow traffic and make safer, rather than the T-boning by a red light runner!
